Open Dialogues

"Open Dialogues"
A group art show at the Huntington Beach Art Center on April 8th 2011. The curator was Darlene DeAngelo. I had the privilege to attend the closing reception of "Open Dialogues", a group art show featuring Jeffery Fricsh, Robin Repp, Laurie Hassold, and Gina Genis. The show was actually a residency art show where they worked on their creations over the course of six weeks at the H.B.A.C.

Jeffery Frisch

Jeffery created some really cool sail boats out of recycled materials, he also had paintings and various sculptures. I had the opportunity to meet him while he was working in progress.

Robin Repp

Robin did a project on day laborers, interviewing and exposing the people who hangout in front of Home Depot in search of work. She hired a couple of day laborers and made a video of their story, great concept Robin!!

Laurie Hassold

Laurie created some very interesting pieces. Her work involved bones, fox tails, and alien-looking creations. Her style is definitely her own, I really enjoyed it. Thank you Laurie!!

Gina Genis

Gina's project was titled "Economy". She took photos of people attending the art center, and asked them to write down how the economy has effected their life. The response was then photoshopped onto the photos in which she printed with different colored backgrounds to form a large American flag. Such a talented photographer!!
